Anyone with any ties to theatre in Ottawa in the last 30 years knows the incisive directorial/dramaturgical energies of Janet Irwin. On November 18, Janet is having a special birthday party to celebrate and raise funds for her latest project, "Up to Low", a stage adaptation of the book by Brian Doyle.
The "Up to Low Birthday Party Production" will feature performances by Nick Carpenter, Brian Doyle, Mary Ellis, John Koensgen, Phil Jenkins, Paul Rainville, Ian Tamblyn, Kristina Watt, Tim Wynne-Jones, and many more! There will be tapas, a fabulous silent auction, door prizes and of course birthday cake.
"Up to Low" is the story of a preadolescent boy trying to make sense of his world over the course of a life-changing summer. It reflects our own Ottawa Valley - its Irish gift of the gab, its exuberant characters, its tragic comedy and its music. Easy Street Productions has commissioned the adaptation of "Up to Low", with plans for a production in 2014/15.
